Foodpairing seeks a Junior Data Scientist to join the Core Data Team. You will play a strategic role in the innovation, research and development of Foodpairing’s technologies for personalized food recommendations and Consumer Flavor Intelligence (CFI). You will work in a multidisciplinary team with data scientists, chefs, food scientists, and data engineers using some of the newest machine learning technologies to generate successful new food products.
You will be in charge of increasing the accuracy of the chemometric models and growing the flavor database of Foodpairing® to more than 250,000 food products.

Your skills and experience
A MS (PhD Preferred) preferable chemistry or bio-engineering (or Physics, Stats with experience in chemistry). Preferably, you have experience in chemometrics or -informatics.
You have strong problem-solving and analytical skills
You have experience with Python and SQL database technologies.
Preferably, you have experience in chemometrics or -informatics.
You have experience with industry-standard python packages like numpy, scipy, scikit-learn, pandas, keras or pyTorch, matplotlib/plotly.
You have hands-on experience, in a technology environment, with exploring and testing machine learning algorithms in the research phase.
You have basic knowledge in statistics (parametric and non-parametric tests, regression techniques)
Bonus points for:
Experience with Google Cloud Platform, Azure or AWS.
Experience with industry standard SQL or noSQl database technologies.
Experience with version control software tools, e.g. git.
Experience in algorithm and software development
Experience in training and validation of multi-layer neural networks and neural network architectures for supervised and unsupervised learning.
