Job Summary:

UNC Health is seeking an enthusiastic Data Analyst to work on multiple projects associated with data management. The position will solicit data needs from UNC Health customers to identify information needs. The position will collaborate and manage internal and external relationships related to data. This will include, but is not limited to ensuring the correct data is being extracted and data cleaning to ensure accurate reporting. Additionally, the Data Analyst will identify additional data requirements and the best methodology to compile it. The ideal candidate will demonstrate great attention to detail, enjoys working in a team environment and enjoys using data to inform virtual care.

Description of Job Responsibilities:

1.Virtual care data management: This position will work on multiple projects associated with virtual care data management for the organization. Including, but not limited to ensuring the correct data is being extracted and data cleaning to ensure accurate reporting. He/she will collaborate with other virtual care team members to develop plans to meet the needs and execute those plans. The position will solicit data needs from our clinical department customers to identify information needs. He/she will review other data sources used by the organization. He/she will determine if this data should be incorporated and if so will develop an plan to bring the data sources together in the most productive way possible. Once the plan is developed, this position will work independently with constituents to execute the plan. He/she will then work with the disparate groups to gain consensus on what the group as a whole needs, develop plans to meet those needs and then execute those plans to ensure customer satisfaction. He/she will follow-up with customers to ensure their needs are met.

2. Dashboard and scorecard development: This position will support the development of effective key performance indicators, management dashboards and balanced scorecards that provide enhanced insight and improve organizational decision-making. He/she will assist with maintaining dashboard user resources (user guide, intranet page, host webinars, answer user-related issues). He /she will support data being displayed in a meaningful way to convey concise, user-friendly information on all virtual care solutions, programs and services.

3. Communication and relationships: The Data Analyst communicates with health system departments, including hospital and enterprise leadership, physician leadership, other clinical leaders, ISD and other stakeholders. He/she ensures a tight linkage between virtual care’s efforts and the organizational goals. Gathers others input and synthesizes information across multiples sources. He/she provides input to guide of the organization's data priorities formal and informal communications.

4. Project management: The Data Analyst supports effective project management to clearly define data projects, develop project plans, and set priorities. He/she understands project management framework and work planning. He/she collaborates with others and is self-directed to meet pre-defined project milestones. He/she seeks help when need.

5.Continual Learning: He/she stays abreast of data reporting and management, ensuring program metrics are optimized.


Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, Computer Science or related field or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

If a Master's Degree, no experience required.

If a Bachelor's Degree, requires two (2) years of data analysis and/or reporting experience.

If an Associate's Degree, requires six (6) years of data analysis and/or reporting experience.

If HS or GED, requires ten (10) years of data analysis and/or reporting experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:

Ability to interface with multiple users across an organization.
