The Advanced Development (AD) team of Philips Healthtech’s Hospital Patient Monitoring (HPM) business has the mission to transform patient data into clinical information to help improve and save lives. The AD team focuses on Electrocardiography and Hemodynamics. Our Hemodynamics team is seeking a Data Scientist who will work on the research and development of advanced algorithms that will be used in novel hemodynamic monitoring devices currently under development.

As a Data Scientist working in the AD team, you should be skilled in digital signal processing and software design and development and have a strong appreciation for cardiovascular physiology.

You are responsible for

  • Help create and execute research and development projects
  • Develop and implement novel signal processing algorithms applied to blood pressure and other biological signals (PPG, ECG, etc)
  • Perform data analysis, algorithm validation, and performance evaluation
  • Develop, configure, document, and troubleshoot complex algorithms and programs in Python and C/C++/C#
  • Work with other engineering groups, Clinical, and Marketing teams to manage the transition of research work into development
  • Present in scientific conferences and publish in scientific journals
  • Some local and international travel

To succeed in this role, you’ll need a customer-first attitude and the following

  • Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, related field, or equivalent experience
  • Expertise in digital signal processing and pattern recognition
  • Experience implementing PPG, ECG or other biological data analysis using Python and C/C++/C#. Knowledge of MATLAB is a plus.
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular physiology is a plus
  • Ability to publish scientific papers and present in scientific conferences
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Track-record of working well both as a member of a team and independently
