We are looking for a Junior Data Scientist (up to 5 years of experience) to join our Data Science & Analytics team. We process massive amounts of data using our state-of-the-art ML / analytics platform (DataBricks). We also see many opportunities for using both BI and advanced analytics to turn even more Jumbo customers into fans. Excited? Please read further.
As (Junior) Data Scientist:
You'll be working on a large variety of assignments, specifically focused on Jumbo online marketing, ranging from BI to advanced analytics. Both the BI part and the data-science part tend to take 50% of your time.
In the role of Data Scientist, you contribute to the most enjoyable shopping experience by:
- Build algorithms (Multi-Touch Attribution) that translate our first-party data into better allocations of marketing and development budget;
- Build Marketing Mix models that help marketing to determine which channels are most effective to advertise in;
- Help channel and campaign marketeers with hypothesis testing and business analytics related questions;
- Develop a (real-time) recommender what the ‘next best action’ is to take towards a customer;
- Hack some SQL queries together with the data analyst from marketing as the directors of IT and marketing have an important decision to make.
In your day-to-day work, you work directly with the business stakeholders (marketing, retail media), colleagues within the IT department and 7Even consultants (analytics translators).

Do you...
have the Jumbo DNA: togetherness, entrepreneurship and winning? And do you also have:
- MSc or Ph.D. with excellent academic results in the field of Computer Science, Econometrics, Marketing Analytics, Data Science or other quantitative fields;
- Machine Learning: solid understanding of supervised and unsupervised learning methods. You have an excellent understanding of Random Forests, Logistic Regression, KNN, LDA, K-Means, LDA, etc.
- Programming: elegant programmer. Python is required, PySpark is a strong pre.
- Analytics tooling: SQL, Excel. DataBricks experience would be great.
- Experience in Data Science in (online) marketing, grocery and/or retail is strongly preferred.
- Statistics and time series analysis: Bayesian statistics, MCMC, ANOVA, Arima etc.
