The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Offensive Security team provides OCI with the capabilities to ensure our systems and services meet the security objectives we communicate to customers. The Offensive Security group performs security assessments, vulnerability research, static and dynamic analysis research, penetration testing, red-teaming, and security tool development. We ensure the security of software and hardware that run our cloud infrastructure and strive to continuously improve. The OCI Offensive Security group works as a team. We don't try to fit people into predefined roles, instead bringing together the right people who enhance team capability and build roles around each team member's skills and interests.

The

Data Engineer

on the Offensive Security Tools team will participate in building large-scale data ingestion, analytics and prediction frameworks. In this role, the Data Engineer will build flexible and scalable solutions for sourcing and ingesting structured and non-structured data. The engineer will design, build and maintain data stores, understanding various data consumption and data visualization models. The Data Engineer will work closely with the Offensive Security teams and our partners to develop these platforms which will drive the next generation of data science and predictive insights/intelligence.

Security experience is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

Prototype, design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug security tool solutions for new and challenging problems

Design complex systems and services that improve quantity or quality of offensive security output

You'll work with the Attack Research team, Security Assessment team, and others to develop security infrastructure and tools

Qualifications

5+ years of data management and engineering

4+ years hands on experience with SQL

4+ years of Object Oriented software development experience

4+ years of hands-on experience working with cloud technologies (OCI, AWS, Azure, GCP)

Experience with at least one high level language such as Java, C#, or C/C++

Experience with at least one scripting language such as Python, Ruby or Perl

Experience with data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals

Experience with desktop and server operating systems and concurrent programming

Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills

Ability to translate feature requirements into a development plan, and then execute on that plan

Excellent judgment to influence product roadmap direction, features, and priorities

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Hardware Engineering or related field

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with security concepts

Experience with machine learning

Masters / PhD degree in Computer Science or related engineering field

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others.
