The Enterprise Data Office (EDO) is seeking an energetic, innovative Data Engineer to support the MAC BSA with experience in Java, Informatica, Agile and Dev Ops. This will provide an opportunity to work on the Partner or Member applications that provides the data to Nationwide internal customers to drive best data solutions. The candidate will be joining a high performing team that is passionate and motivated about meeting customer needs.

This role is currently working in a hybrid capacity. It collaborates in office with the team a few days every other week. Subject to change.

As a Software Engineer, you will focus primarily on providing high quality, efficient technology solutions to business partners by crafting new software applications or modifying and/or supporting existing packaged or custom-built applications. In this capacity, you’ll code, configure, test, debug, document and maintain applications.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards and best practices.

  • Uses DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.

  • Adopts continuous improvement and learning.

  • Handles project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables proactively.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to a Technology Manager/Director.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems or other related degree. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.

Experience: One or more years of technology experience.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Proficiency of at least one programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript, etc. Knowledge of software development lifecycle. Good problem-solving skills. Ability to thrive in a team environment. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.

Other criteria, such as competencies and experiences, may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the Director and HR Officer.
