Title: Systems Data Analyst
Location: Brighton (Hybrid, 50/50)
Salary: £45,000 per annum Industry: Travel Industry Brief Overview: Forsyth Barnes have collaborated with an outstanding Travel organisation as they look to add Systems Data Analyst to their ever-growing team. Reporting to the Data Product Owner, this role is 60% as a SQL Developer and 40% as a Business Intelligence and MI Reporting resource. The SQL developer element of the role is responsible for designing and creating database structures suitable for quickly and efficiently storing and retrieving data required by the business. You will also take a lead role in optimizing our existing SQL infrastructure / architecture and establishing best practices. The BI / MI element of the role is responsible for providing accurate, timely MI and Commercial tools to support the business, including assisting with the maintenance and development of the Business Intelligence platform. You will also be involved with automated distribution of MI, plus supporting various business areas with system loading processes and automation scripts as and when required. Responsibilities:-Develop high-quality, efficient SQL database solutions, predominantly using Transact-SQL and Oracle (open queries). This includes the ability to confidently build new queries, functions, views and stored procedures from scratch.
  • Review and analyze existing SQL queries, looking for performance improvements, and develop suitable solutions to replace legacy code.
  • Emphasis on SQL knowledge/skills transfer with other members of the Data team.
  • Assist with monitoring and maintaining data quality across the Business Intelligence system, Data Warehouse and Customer Databases, including performing appropriate QA checks, reviewing error logs and ensuring any issues are identified and resolved promptly.
  • Develop procedures and scripts for data loading and migration exercises as and when required.
  • Develop and maintain automated reporting, BI models and assist in managing the weekly stats run.
  • Any other ad-hoc reporting required by the business from various business databases and the BI system.
  • Ensure any system issues are documented and reported for resolution. Any reported issues are to be tracked to ensure they are resolved in a timely manner according to business priority. All interested parties are to be kept informed throughout. Requirements:
  • Excellent understanding of T-SQL programming and Microsoft SQL Server
  • Excellent understanding of optimal database architecture, with proven ability to manage/manipulate large volumes of data
  • Experience of leading Business Intelligence tool, preferably PowerBI or QlikView, including data modeling and visualisation
  • Commercial reporting and analysis experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel including VBA / Macros
  • Experience of Oracle, MySQL and using open query in Transact-SQL (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of VB Script (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of Python (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of Visual FoxPro (Desirable)
