Tasks & responsibilities

  • In your role you execute data science projects across functions of human pharma with the purpose of solving challenging, non-routine analysis problems utilizing data and scientific-problem solving including artificial intelligence, machine learning, causal inference, advanced statistics, natural language processing and other related techniques.
  • You work in close collaborations with business stakeholders to enable them to utilize their data for smart decision-making.
  • Furthermore, you enable the development of customer centric healthcare solutions
  • You are responsible for building computational models, discovering insights and identifying opportunities through the use of statistical and algorithmic methods (for instance machine learning) as well as data visualization techniques.
  • Besides, you work closely with business units, data stewards, project/program managers, and IT with the shared goal of improving human health

For the Senior Global Data Scientist
  • With your extended expertise, you support BI’s Global Data Science Team by utilizing your experience to manage medium to large-sized projects potentially including external support
  • You act as a mentor to advise junior colleagues on technical methodologies
  • Furthermore you provide thought leadership by researching and instillation of industry leading practices, conducting experiments and collaborating with industry leaders
  • You act as a role model for agile approaches for initiatives and launches


  • Master’s degree, PhD, or equivalent experience in a quantitative field such as mathematics, computer science, engineering, bioinformatics, etc.
  • Professional experience in implementing and deploying machine learning solutions, using various types of models such as classification, regression and clustering
  • Experience in parallel computing
  • Fluency in R or Python’s statistical packages such as pandas, statsmodels, etc.
  • Professional development experience with programming languages in any of Java, JavaScript, Scala or Python
  • Experience with SQL or NoSQL database systems
  • Experience with large data sets and distributed computing such as Hive, Hadoop, Spark, etc.
  • You possess strong interpersonal skills demonstrated through the ability to build and sustain productive collaborative relationships with business partners and colleagues
  • You communicate technical topics and analysis results clearly and effectively to business stakeholders including senior business leaders to influence analytics decisions.

For the Senior Global Data Scientist
  • You have solid experience in change management demonstrated through several projects that involved a high degree of business transformation
  • Several years of relevant experience in data science
  • Some experience with collaboration in an agile software development team
