About the Department

The Decision Support Unit [DSU] objective is to deliver information to provide better healthcare.

  • DSU functionally manages the Patient Administration System [PAS],
  • This Unit also manages, maintains, enhances and provides functional support for a number of DSU built applications such as Enkey, GEB and Clinical Audit.
  • DSU develops and maintains a reporting and analytics framework for activity (largely PAS) for St. Vincent’s Melbourne.
  • This Unit also completes the episodic clinical costing for SVHMs clinical Activity

About the Role

Staff COVID vaccination program and contact tracing program at SVHM requires a role to maintain data quality for use in management, quality/ clinical assurance and internal and external reporting. This role will form part of the Decision Support Team and is classified at HS5 with an additional overaward (Approximately $55 per hour).


  • Provide advanced data analyses & process mapping to drive efficiency and influence quality across SVHM
  • Provide advanced and concise interpretation of complex data sets to facilitate business, quality and investment decisions
  • Consult with external parties, such as the Department of Health and Human Services to develop robust stakeholder-validated analyses
  • Utilise persuasive writing and report preparation techniques to engage stakeholders, build understanding of key issues and facilitate SVHM’s growth and efficiency agenda

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Degree in Health, Health Management, Information Technology, Statistics and/or Business Management
  • Expertise in health analytics
  • Expertise in Process mapping
  • Expertise in Reporting [Using such tools as Excel, SSRS, Power BI]
