IT Technical Designer / Data Engineer

Carrefour Belgium is looking forward to hiring an IT Technical Designer or Data Engineer with relevant experience in Data Engineering Solutions. Previous experience in sectors similar to retail would be a big plus.
Modular solutions and data processing are key for Carrefour, in order to serve our customers. These solutions must be well developed and aligned with the market, from a technological point of view, and that’s where you come in as a seasoned Technical Data Designer.

Our new colleague will be responsible for the design of the skeleton of our applications, data-processing and systems. You’ll closely collaborate with the enterprise and data architect, to ensure the best integration and data collection.
Thanks to your efforts, our IT Data Analysts and Project Leaders are able to focus on their core activities, since you take care of the necessary application layers, technical and network components. Our solutions are hosted in a hybrid environment, on-premise and in the cloud.

The breakdown of the tasks and responsibilities of an IT Technical Designer at Carrefour is the following one:

Technical
Design of the technical architecture in collaboration with the IT Solution Designer, responsible for build of the delivery by translating the requirements of the (internal) customers into technical solutions.

Design

• Ensure that the adjustments of our systems match with our current and future needs. As an expert in your domain, you know what’s possible, and which design / combinations / specific components are suitable. You also keep an eye on efficiency and user-friendliness.
• Work in close collaboration with Business Data Analysts to avoid any gaps between business needs and limitations of technology.
• Challenge business requirements versus technology, advise on best practices.

Build
Participate in the construction and integration of our systems with our external providers, resolve any issues by diagnosing and identifying a solution.

Break the Silos - Transversal Collaboration
Inspire and advise Business Data Analysts, Project Leaders and Team Managers on opportunities from a technical point of view.

System & Application Documentation
Collaboration with the IT Data Architect to enrich the centralized global IT documentation. (Technical, integration, configuration, transformation, data designs, ….)

Your Profile

• Bachelor or master’s degree in IT.
• Relevant experience in (IT) consulting or in a similar position.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in technical implementation and design.
• Relevant experience in cloud data platforms.
• Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform is a plus.
• You have a strong analytical mindset and problem-solving skills.
• You are customer oriented, with excellent communication skills, capable to defend your ideas, but open to listen to others as well.
• You’re fluent in Dutch and English or in French and English.
• You’re flexible to deal with (occasional) incidents outside of office hours.
• You’re eager to learn and you have a huge appetite for innovative technologies and changing trends in the market.
• You have a positive and accountable mindset.
• You value the true meaning of team objectives.
