Job Description

The data scientist designs mathematical models to help clients understand pertinent questions about their data, as well as analysing results from modelling to deliver insights


Define, design, and implement major parts of the software architecture for BXB Digital in tight collaboration with product management and engineering team members, keeping close contact with CHEP business teams working on digitization of Brambles. The work performed is all levels of detail from individual code elements to overall system architecture.


  • Experiments with and implements machine learning techniques on internal/external customer projects
  • Learns new data science techniques/programming languages and exploring their viability on current projects
  • Contributes to data science team discussions, providing insight as needed on current approaches and methods
  • Develop data science products and solutions
  • Write highly optimized code
  • Work in a multi-disciplinary environment with specialists in machine learning, engineering and design
  • Focus on data science modelling alongside the Data Engineering team which focuses on the wrangling, clean-up and transformation of data
  • Apply software engineering best practices and optimise code for model development and scale
  • Use new technologies and problem-solving skills in a multicultural and creative environment


  • MSc or PhD level in the field of Computer Science, Machine Learning, Applied Statistics, Mathematics or a related field
  • Experience in statistical modelling and machine learning techniques
  • Experience using programming languages such as: Python, R, SQL
  • Experience in cloud computing environments like AWS and Azure, and experience with distributed computing with Hadoop or Spark.
  • Experience in applying data science methods to business problems
  • Good presentation and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex analytical concepts to people from other fields
  • Strongest profiles tend to have a good foundational grounding in Maths/Stats to at least MSc level.

Preferred Education

PhD - Computer and Information Science, PhD - Mathematics, PhD - Statistics

3 - 5 years
