Key Responsibilities

• Applies data expertise to develop and advise on data solutions.
• Helps to resolve technical problems.
• Analyses and assesses potential data sources for ingesting.
• Develops robust and efficient engineering processes.
• Ensures all data is compliant with BT policies.
• Ensures that all data acquired is fully understood and documented.
• Develop data feeds that are robust, efficient, compliant and documented.
• Adopt new technologies and drive business efficiency by delivering effective data solutions.

Skills Required

• Technical knowledge of data architectures.
• Working knowledge of the concepts and principles of data engineering.
• Good understanding of Data Modelling techniques.
• Good understanding of data platforms like Data Lakes and traditional Data warehouse systems.
• Awareness of Data Management best practice.
• Experienced with Python and SQL.
• Work with structured and unstructured data.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills for all levels of an organisation.
• Collaborative. You help to remove barriers and improve processes.
• Some knowledge of Cloud Computing patterns, workflows and services; and how they relate to a big data platform.

Experience

• CI/CD pipelines.
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform / Cloudformation etc)
• Knowledge of REST/Graph APIs and how they can be used in a data environment.
• Knowledge of Docker/Kubernetes, and how these can be used to simplify deployments.
• Experience on at least one Cloud Platform (GCP and AWS preferred)
• Background in machine learning & software engineering frameworks such as TensorFlow or Pandas
• Advanced maths skills (linear algebra, Bayesian statistics, group theory)
