Job Description: Senior Data Scientist

About the role
The Senior Data Scientist is a core part of our Analytics team. This is a growing team with a high bar in terms of recruiting new people to join us. We seek people who will help drive our business forward and challenge norms by striving for more and helping accelerate analytics at Fresha. Aside from your skills and experience, we’re most interested in your growth mindset and development potential.
This is a full-time role that’s based in our London office, but we’re all currently WFH. We expect to maintain a culture of flexibility and a mix of WFH and office time.
What you’ll do
Work closely with product and user experience teams to help discover the art of the possible within their products when it comes to data science.
You will be experiment led, delivering proof of concepts with pace to be used by product teams to test, learn and generate new product ideas.
You will be responsible for ensuring the product teams have a firm understanding of the features and enhancements that could be applied by data science to their products, and what the steps are to realizing these ideas.
You will advise on the best way to store and prepare data for use by ML applications.
Support Product and Engineering team members with data requirements to drive the direction of new feature releases
Work with a team of highly skilled data scientists; supporting recruitment, skills assessment and mentoring to assist in their personal development.
What we’re looking for
5+ years of experience in data science and machine learning
Strong proficiency in SQL
Fluency in R, Python or Java
Familiar with APIs, data scraping and wrangling
Experience with at least one major data visualisation tool (preference for Sisense/Periscope Data or Looker)
Practical knowledge in applying machine learning techniques
Strong experience relevant to developing machine learning and statistical models for web applications
An understanding of the supporting statistics and mathematics
Strong experience in associated data preparations and data visualizations for building predictive models.
Application of semantic modelling, knowledge of extraction and knowledge representation
Experience developing production-grade, performant, scalable applications
Experience in helping teams with little practical experience in ML getting up to speed and productive
Strong written and oral communication skills, including comfort presenting findings at a leadership level
Experience writing clean, maintainable, and modular code that can be easily understood and audited by others
Strong attention to detail and a desire to drive quality on all projects
Bonus points if...
Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field (e.g. Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, Information Systems, etc.)
Previous work experience in high-growth technology startups
Familiarity with web analytics tracking tools (Google Analytics, Hotjar)
Experience with building machine learning models (market basket analysis, regression analysis, etc.) to forecast trends in user behaviour
Experience accessing, manipulating, and reporting on data from the APIs of various cloud tools (e.g. HubSpot, ZenDesk) is a plus
