Are you a curious thought leader who thrives on developing new solutions to solve tough challenges? As a Senior Data Analyst, you will be a critical member of our Optum Advisory Services (OAS) team. At OAS, we make healthcare better by providing consultative services through innovation and analysis. As a Senior Data Analyst, you will ultimately make client health plans more efficient, identify gaps in member care, and help make the health system better for everyone.

You will develop and maintain Client Experience Analytics for the enterprise and subsequent predictive modeling for optimization to deliver NPS improvements. With your analytics and reporting modules, you will bring disparate data to life by providing insights and finding gaps in operations, patient care models and customer sentiment data. You will also bring visibility to risks and productivity across the client organization.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop, analyze, and interpret the key drivers of health care trends
  • Develop client performance reporting
  • Understand, identify, and apply common healthcare trend formulas to define key performance indicators
  • Monitor historical and current data trends to make recommendations and predictions
  • Perform statistically sound modeling and analyses with application to current business needs
  • Present data and analysis in a meaningful and easy to understand manner to influence and provide guidance on data driven strategic decisions
  • Proactively provide management with unbiased advice and opinions regarding clinical program strategy
  • Anticipate customer needs and proactively develop solutions to meet them
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and thought leader in the evaluation and assessment of new processes, tools, and technologies to ensure that the team stays at the frontier of Analytics.
  • Designs, develops, tests, documents and maintains database queries and reports
  • Recommends and implements new or modified reporting methods and procedures to improve report content and completeness of information
  • Serves as a resource to staff, answering questions and assisting with department informatics, reporting and trending, and workflow/operational issues
  • Works with internal and external department customers to define and document requirements to enrich reporting capabilities
  • Develops systematic reporting processes and procedures to ensure timely delivery f reporting to team, management and external clients
  • Troubleshoots data integrity issues, analyzes data for completeness to meet business goals and trending
  • Transfers data into meaningful, professional and easy to understand formats for various audiences
  • Supports complex projects that require cross functional coordination
  • Performs analysis by developing and executing SQL queries on various sets of data streams, inclusive of normalizing data as needed, and evaluates downstream business systems, processes, and/or organizational impacts

Required Qualifications:

  • College Degree in Engineering/Statistics/Economics/Computer Science/Mathematics/Business Administration or any associated degree (with a solid quantitative background)
  • 3 + years of experience retrieving data from large, complex databases
  • 3 + years of experience working in the health care industry; specifically managed care
  • 3 + years of experience measuring clinical performance through common KPI’s, analyzing medical claims data and understanding, identifying and applying common healthcare trend formulas
  • Develop and apply statistical methods to evaluate program performance
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Perform analytic dataset creation and statistical modeling, and summarize results
  • Manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet non-negotiable deadlines
  • Proficient manipulating standard reports in tools such as Tableau to identify emerging trends, anomalies and deviations from expected results
  • Highly skilled accessing and retrieving data from traditional RDBMs and cloud data repositories
  • Track record of applying data-driven insights to improve performance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Medicare Advantage and/or Medicaid
  • Knowledge of Health Care Industry and/or experience in HEDIS, CAHPS/HOS, Medicare Advantage Part D (MAPD) operations and STARS
  • Knowledge and or experience with reading and interpreting contracts related to Healthcare relationships
  • Proficiency in SQL or similar programming language and developing efficient, well performing queries
  • Working knowledge of Snowflake interface
  • Working knowledge of innovation, ThoughtSpot
  • Solid communication skills: Work closely with stakeholders to understand business needs, explain methods, and interpret findings

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $97,300 to $176,900. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $97,300 to $176,900.
