Data Analyst

NovoEd builds the next generation of learning technology to offer engaging learning experiences at scale through social collaborative and experiential learning. As a data analyst, you will work as an integral part of the product and engineering team to set up data pipelines using MySQL with wysiwyg tools similar to AWS ETL/AWS GLUE. You will work on creating metrics and charts using an embedded analytics tool similar to Tableau. The dashboard you build will be integrated into the SaaS platform for external facing audiences of the NovoEd product. You will work with the design team on the aesthetics and user experience aspects of your dashboards. You will work with the quality assurance team to fix issues found relevant to correctness of metrics or data shown. You will be the owner of our embedded analytics tool and responsible for managing the vendor, reporting issues to them and getting issues to resolution.

Responsibilities:

• Bring data sources relevant to engagement and use of product and applicable to NovoEd clients into the SaaS product data store.
• Use APIs or use MySQL to bring data in from relevant sources.
• Design data sets that are performant, can sync data with a lag of at most 30 minutes using a tool similar to AWS ETL/AWS GLUE.
• Create metrics and charts using a tool like Tableau that respond to needs identified in a product requirements document.
• Create, evaluate, and improve in-product, problem focused dashboards.
• Work with product, design, engineering management and quality assurance teams to ship dashboards to production systems.
• Partner with product or success teams to answer specific data questions that are not yet built into the SaaS product.
  
  

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience with MySQL writing complex queries.
• 3+ years of experience creating and modeling performant data sets.
• 5+ years of experience building dashboards in a tool like Tableau or alike
• Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and manage cross-functional projects.
• Advanced technical and modeling skills in data analytics tools, python and Excel skills (pivot, vlookup, etc.).
• Experience using data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop business cases.
• Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to translate complex analysis into actionable recommendations.
• Compelling storytelling and presentation skills.
• Client centricity, user empathy and deep curiosity to find deeper answers to data questions.
  
  

Salary range for this position: $85-$110K base plus bonus
