Data Analyst: Financial Services Technology Consulting


Our Data and Analytics team in Financial Services Organisation is growing. We are currently seeking to hire strong Data and Analytics consultants to work with clients to reimagine and redesign the inner workings of their operations, enable them to deliver on their corporate Data and Analytics strategy, support Digital and Business Transformation or Regulatory Reporting projects, achieve data driven operational, cost and performance efficiencies and identify and capture growth opportunities for the future.


Your Key Responsibilities


Within Technology Consulting - Data and Analytics, you'll work as a Consultant or Senior Consultant as part of a high -performing team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience, helping client organisations solve their complex business issues from strategy to execution. On a typical day, you will have the opportunity to:


  • Utilise your skills in the areas of structured problem solving, business and data analysis, analytics, design thinking and lean process improvement to help our clients drive profitability and performance improvement through their business operations and technology challenges.
  • Be able to effectively analyse and define data and analytics requirements through stakeholder engagement and reviewing existing processes. Engage directly with client stakeholders to drive data driven business outcomes.
  • Work on business problems with our financial services clients, where data and technology are the integral part of the answer
  • Be involved in projects across the end-to-end project lifecycle, from business case development to project and execution and close-out.
  • Work in a variety of data and analytics engagements, including Data Requirements elicitation, Data Solution Design, Data Architecture, Data Management, Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, Advanced Analytics and AI
  • Support the design of and deliver data & analytics engagements, bringing your knowledge and experience to the table as a subject matter expert
  • Play the role of a trusted advisor relationship with Clients
  • Draw on EY’s unique capabilities in Data and Analytics, Banking, Insurance and WAM, as well as experience from our global consulting network
  • Work with a global team of experts to develop unique, innovative and game-changing solutions as well as benefitting from best-in-class operations focused training


Client responsibilities


  • Understand business questions and needs of the client
  • Perform data exploration and documentation, data sourcing and extraction, data integration and cleansing
  • Develop data analysis reporting process, identify process improvement opportunities
  • Using statistical tools identify, analyse and interpret patterns and trends
  • Prepare analysis reports and visualisations
  • Assist the business in understanding the insights and enable data driven decision making
  • Manage positive, trust-based relationships with the Client and EY stakeholders
  • Understand EY’s service offerings and actively identify opportunities to better serve clients across our range of services. At EY, we go to market as One Team

Ideally you will have


  • Strong academic record including a relevant third level degree from a recognised institution
  • 1-5 years relevant work experience in an MI/ BI reporting, data visualisation, data engineering, data science, and/or advanced analytics roles
  • Experience working with relevant data and analytics tools and languages relevant to your specialism (e.g PowerBI, Tableau, QlikView, Alteryx, Hadoop, SQL, Python for analytics, R, SAS)
  • Growth and continuous learning mindset
  • Strong communication and presentation skills and an ability to act as translator between technical and non-technical teams, seamlessly tailoring your communications to suit the audience
  • Client facing and delivery experience; agile experience and certifications preferred.
  • Technology Consulting experience
  • Proven Microsoft Office experience, in particular strong PowerPoint skills
  • Financial Services background or experience a bonus
  • Regulatory reporting data and analytics experience a bonus
