The Data team are looking for a Data Engineer to onboard Joules to Next's Total Platform! Based in Enderby, offering a salary up to £55,591.


As a Data Engineer working primarily on the support of our Total Platform offering, your initial focus will be onboarding Joules, choosing optimal solutions to use for these purposes, implementing and maintaining them whilst integrating them within the wider data team.


About The Team


The Data team provides the department and the business the means to see what is working and what is not by drawing data and analysing patterns of shopping on our site. This role sits specifically within the Engineering team, currently working on an Multi Cloud environment with further connections to other Engineering and Analytical tools such as Databricks.


About The Role


In this role, you’ll be supporting the other areas within the wider marketing analytics function. Driving to better our architecture and platform offering. This is done through researching and trialling new technologies, keeping up to date with the industry to ensure we are keeping ahead of the market and reducing latency and increasing efficiency and data quality.


Specifically, this role will be supporting the onboarding and ingestion of partner data, making this data available across multiple platforms through the use of SFTPs and APIs, whilst also maintaining and improving pipelines and the offering for our partners.


You’ll be working closely within our Marketing Analytics team consisting of Insight Analysts and Data Scientists specifically to process user code and assist with coding efficiencies within a cloud based environment.


You’ll research and trial new technologies for different purposes across the wider marketing analytics team.


You’ll also improve efficiencies and quality of data provided, creating dashboards and handling errors through alerts whilst coming up with new ideas on how to improve and ultimately shape the role.


This is a brilliant opportunity and the role would best suit someone with a strong background handling and transferring Big Data alongside a good understanding in cloud based environments.


There are flexible working options available with this role, including hybrid working.


Criteria


  • Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or other relevant fields.
  • Experience in a cloud based environment including and understanding of distributed computing principles.
  • Desire to learn within a cloud based environment
  • Ability to understand Data Warehousing, Data Modelling and ETL Development, writing complex queries on multiple data sources.
  • Basic understanding of Data Warehousing, Data Modelling and ETL Development, writing complex queries on multiple data sources.
  • Experience using Databricks, Spark and Hadoop (including configuration settings).
  • Willing to learn different coding technologies and analytical platforms
  • Highly proficient in SQL or PySpark development.
  • Knowledge of coding in at least 1 language
  • In depth knowledge of database engineering and design principles.
  • Good communicator, comfortable presenting and sharing ideas with other team members and senior stakeholders.
