Data Scientist, People Function

Thomson Reuters is seeking an experienced data scientist with a passion for researching and analyzing people data using state-of-the-art ML and traditional statistical analysis techniques.
About the role
In this opportunity as a Data Scientist, you will:
Experiment and Develop: You will drive work across the entire model development lifecycle, building, testing, and delivering high quality solutions. You will apply best practices for conducting reproducible research and well-managed insight solutions.
Collaborate: Working on a collaborative cross-functional team, you will share information, value diverse ideas, and partner effectively with colleagues across the globe. You will help us elevate and mentor teammates within the People Analytics team and across our broader People function.
Deliver: We like to start right away and work fast – so you will need to be skilled at quickly translating complex business problems, limited data sets, etc. into agile projects with clearly defined scope. You will be accountable for timely, well-managed, and high adoption deliverables.
Innovate: We are continuous learners – so you will be empowered to try new approaches and learn new technologies. Through your innovative ideas you will help upskill leadership decision making using evidenced based, data driven approaches to solve real-world people challenges.
Inspire: You will be a proactive and clear communicator who is excited to share your work. You will be articulate and compelling in describing ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences. You will help lead the way in the adoption of AI across our People function.
Master’s/PhD in a relevant Statistics, Mathematics, Marketing, Business, or Human Resources discipline or comparable level of experience
At least four years’ experience building advanced analytics ML/NLP systems, involving statistical modeling, data mining or data-driven problem-solving using algorithms, data mining and machine learning
Solid data engineering skills for rapid prototyping and agile MVP/MVI delivery
4+ years academic or industry experience building ML or NLP systems with the demonstrated ability to translate cutting edge research into working applications
Demonstrated ability to translate customer needs into well-structured research/project plans that focus on agile minimum viable product delivery.
Mastery of Python and SQL as well as other modern data science tools and packages
Outstanding communication, organization, and data-driven decision making
Comfortable with agile methodology and incremental minimal viable product delivery
