Our client in the mining and metals industry is seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to drive the development of cutting-edge analytics capabilities, with a strong focus on Generative AI, graph solutions, and neural networks. This role involves leveraging advanced data science techniques to enhance business decision-making processes and deliver actionable insights across a range of high-impact projects.
What is in it for you:
- Hourly salary of $63 to $70, based on experience.
- 12-month contract.
- Full-time position: 40 hours per week.
- In-office position in Vancouver, BC, V6C 1B4.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct exploratory data analysis to refine hypotheses and support key decision-making processes.
- Develop intuitive, user-friendly interfaces that visualize complex data insights for business stakeholders.
- Provide expert knowledge in statistical, mathematical, and machine learning concepts, ensuring the accuracy and validation of advanced algorithms and predictive models.
- Oversee disciplined governance and quality assurance across projects, ensuring adherence to standardized processes, systems, and tools.
- Deliver training and development to maintain and enhance the expertise of team members in data science methodologies.
- Engage with clients and internal stakeholders to enhance their understanding of data analytics and address critical business issues.
- Present and disseminate analytical results to promote data-driven decision-making within the organization.
- Capture and document intellectual property generated from analytical approaches for future reference and application.
What you will need to succeed:
- Master’s or PhD in Geosciences, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field, with over 5 years of experience in data science projects, preferably within agile methodologies.
- Proficiency in Python for data processing, statistical analysis, modeling, machine learning, and visualization. Knowledge of R is a plus.
- Strong SQL skills for querying databases and handling large datasets.
- Hands-on experience with machine learning libraries and tools such as Xarray, Sci-kit Learn, NumPy, Pandas, TensorFlow, Keras, or similar.
- Competence in data visualization using tools like Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly, Tableau, D3, or similar.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS (S3, SageMaker) or Azure is preferred.
- Familiarity with solving spatial or geoscientific problems is advantageous.
- Experience with graph-based solutions is also a plus.
