The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) is charged with the responsibility for maintaining the stability and integrity of the monetary and financial systems of Hong Kong.
The HKMA currently embarks on a multi-year Digitalisation Programme that cuts across multiple functions, including banking and anti-money laundering supervision, financial stability surveillance, research and investment, with the aim of using technologies and data science to help us identify emerging risks and trends in a more forward-looking manner.
There is now an excellent opportunity for eligible candidates to apply for the following position to work under the Digitalisation Programme:
Senior Data Analyst / Data Analyst – Digitalisation Office
Key Responsibilities
- Lead / assist in the Data Analytics Centre of Excellence (“DAC”) work on data analytic projects using large-volume data for risk monitoring and surveillance, serving all functions of the HKMA (i.e. from banking policy to reserves management)
- Support big data research and various Generative AI product development
- Liaise and collaborate with data scientists and analysts from various business divisions to drive advanced analytics use cases
- Develop and implement automated monitoring tools (e.g. self-alerting dashboards) in support of risk management and decision making across various central banking functions
- Support project managers in leading a small team of junior data analysts under the DAC, and provide coaching to junior team members
- Support the implementation of various initiatives under the HKMA’s Digitalisation Programme
Requirements
- University degree in data science, computer science, statistics or related fields
- At least 3 years of experience in conducting data projects, with concrete business impact delivered a definite advantage
- Proficiency in Python and SQL is required. Experience in either GenAI architecture development, prompt engineering, PySpark, Tableau, Airflow, or R highly preferred
- Exposure in central banking, economics research, or risk management a plus
- Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- A good team player with ability to work with others to achieve the objectives
- Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese
(Candidates with less experience may be considered for an offer of appointment at Data Analyst or Analyst Programmer level.)
