ScanTrust is currently looking for a Backend Data Engineer with the following scope

Tasks

Job Description

As scantrust grows the volume of data, and the number of ways it is used, is exploding. We are looking for someone with experience developing data-focused solutions using heterogeneous databases. You will be investigating new methods and architecting a new backend data architecture to meet our growing needs. This job requires someone who craves an interesting technical challenge and enjoys leading the way.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Work with product and technical teams to gather requirements for a new data storage and processing architecture that can handle our growing needs
  • Make architectural design decisions and communicate tradeoffs clearly
  • Design and optimize data pipelines, tooling, and dashboards
  • Understand existing infrastructure and help monitor data flows and diagnose issues
  • Maintain and improve the current data architecture


Skills & Experience

  • 4+ years industry experience in a data engineering or similar role
  • Strong experience with relational databases (postgres preferred)
  • Strong Python programming ability
  • Experience with Airflow and/or other ETL/Data Pipeline tools
  • Experience with AWS Data tools - RDS, Redshift, Athena
  • Knowledge of Spark / Kafka / Firehose, data warehouse and data lake tools and concepts
  • Experience with document and distributed databases is helpful
  • Creativity and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong opinions about the right way to do things that you aren’t afraid to defend


Minimum requirement:

Based in the Netherlands with a valid residential status.
