Job description

ESG solutions enable investors to develop and integrate responsible investing policies and practices, engage on responsible investment issues, and monitor portfolio company practices through screening solutions. It also provides climate data, analytics, and advisory services to help financial market participants understand, measure, and act on climate-related risks across all asset classes. In addition, ESG solutions cover corporate and country ESG research and ratings enabling its clients to identify material social and environmental risks and opportunities.

Overview: ESG Data Analyst, ESG Newsroom

E&S Data Governance is ISS’ data hub, which designs data catalogs and consolidates environmental & social data on companies across major global indices. We are currently seeking an ESG data analyst for our ESG Newsroom unit. The ideal candidate will have a solid grounding in environmental, social, and, governance data, the ability to assess and validate alternative ESG data and to work with our AI/ML and NLP experts on continued enhancements of news capture and indexing.

Main Responsibilities
  • Monitor the press, NGO, and, government sources for ESG news
  • Identify alternative, non-corporate sources to supplement, complement and compare company ESG data
  • Participate in and contribute to team processes focused on strengthening ISS’ ESG product offering
  • Participate in maintaining and developing methodology and processes to capture salient ESG news
  • Cooperate with data science teams to conceptualize build out AI/ML and NLP news capture and indexing
Required Skills
  • MA Degree (in a relevant field such as Business Analytics, Environmental Science, Journalism, ESG or, Sustainability)
  • Proven research and analysis skills, with at least 3 years experience in evaluating ESG data
  • Excellent command of English; additional languages are an asset
  • Strong interest in business and finance
  • Advanced use of Excel. Experience with Data Mining and Data Analysis technologies and language, including R, Python, Pandas, Jupyter Notebook, Matplotlib, is desirable but not required
  • Attention to detail, and methodical and thorough approach to work.
  • Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work towards deadlines, manage tasks and prioritise
  • A desire to show initiative
  • A drive for constant improvement of processes

We offer a hybrid work schedule of 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home. Most offices have returned to working in the office.
