Job Description

Hotelscan is looking for a Data Engineer for Hotelscan team based in Chiasso, Switzerland. The engineer will work on the integration and marketing platform of hotelscan.com and he will cover transversely the whole infrastructure to integrate partners and manage big databases and heavy procedures, he/she will take strategic decisions on technologies and development according to the CTO and the other senior members of the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implementation of procedures to integrate data fetched from more than 100 different sources
• Development of ad-hoc procedures to automate data import/export
• Monitoring of performance and backend platform infrastructure maintenance
• Hands-on database development with SQL and query tuning on Distributed DBs

Qualifications

Essential

• 2+ years experience with Java
• Good knowledge of Apache Spark framework
• Java 8 knowledge
• Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented design, patterns, algorithms, data structures
• Experience writing multi-threaded systems
• Experience with memory/resources constraints
• Experience with automated build tools (e.g. Maven)
• Experience with versioning tools (e.g. Git)
• SQL, database design

Desirable

• Scala programming
• Experience in Machine learning
• Experience with REST architectures
• Experience using agile development methodologies
• Experience in handling large amounts of data
• Experience with Unix
• Bash programming
• Functional programming
