Define, manipulate, aggregate and use both structured and unstructured “big data” in order to support descriptive and predictive analytics across the businesses.

  • Collaborate with scientists, product groups and content groups to perform “big data” aggregations, symbology mapping, and manipulations of important data-sets
  • Perform statistical (and machine learned) analyses on data to serve business purposes
  • Narrate stories (sometimes to a non-technical audience) about our content and processes by data analysis and visualization
  • Define and develop software for the analysis and manipulation of large and very large data-sets
  • Guide the architecture of “big-data” business processes with an eye towards robustness, parsimony and reproducibility (at senior levels) We are looking for a Data Scientist to work on predictive models related to investment banking. We will rely on you to build products by extracting insights from underlying data. You will also monitor the effectiveness of existing models and improve on those models. You will actively participate in a hypothesis-driven research process: reviewing academic literature, developing and testing hypotheses, running analyses to test hypotheses, and gaining insights from research findings. Primary responsibilities: Build new models to fill out the Refinitiv portfolio of offerings in investment banking Monitor the performance of existing investment banking models Monitor market trends and changing regulation that affect our models Regularly upgrade models to reflect changing conditions/regulations Improve on the underlying algorithms of existing models Review pertinent academic literature Participate in developing research hypotheses Perform analyses to test hypotheses and formulate insights Design metrics to evaluate model performance Present and communicate results and ideas clearly and concisely to other members of the research team Collaborate with other teams as needed Promote and explain the models to our customers Qualifications: Master’s or Ph.D., in engineering, mathematics, science, computer science, economics, or finance, or equivalent experience Strong and significant programming experience, preferably in Python. Proficiency in a Unix or Linux environment a plus Solid understanding of statistical methods and/or machine learning such as hypothesis testing, time series analysis, regression, classification and clustering Proficiency in SQL (any flavor) Strong interest in finance Top notch quantitative aptitude Ability to think creatively and communicate sophisticated concepts clearly and concisely Knowledge & Skill:
  • Experienced professional with in-depth knowledge of technical discipline or specialism
  • Provides subject matter expertise across sub-units
  • Strong understanding of other roles within the function or Business Unit and how they are connected
  • Knowledge of relationships between all relevant groups within the company
  • Adapts traditional approaches to solutions and applies in different circumstances
