HIS Data Scientist

JOB SUMMARY (overview of job): The Data Scientist position develops predictive models on datasets to address various business problems through leveraging advanced statistical modeling, operations research, machine learning, or data mining techniques.

The Data Scientist is a member of a cross functional team, producing innovative solutions driven by data analysis from complex databases. Using a flexible, analytical approach to design, develop, and evaluate predictive models and advanced algorithms’ that lead to optimal value extraction from the data.

The Data Scientist will work with other staff in developing and maintaining efficiency/optimization analysis, financial analysis, and strategic planning for inpatient and outpatient services including library mining models, tools, workflows and reports to support operational departments regarding medical costs, utilization, provider performance and patient outcomes. The Data Scientist will provide and develop the analytics tools that can be used by other staff with non-technical expertise. The Healthcare Data Scientist will collaborate with leadership, program managers and staff to turn data into critical information and knowledge to be used to make sound organizational decisions.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:

• Design applications targeted at analyzing large volumes of performance and operations data enabling customers to make key clinical and business decisions.
• Model and Score performance data through multi-variant correlations across key performance indicators to enable machine learning and dynamic baselining.
• Create visualizations of structured and unstructured performance and operations data.
• Develop, maintain and support Business Intelligence (BI) activities.
• Demonstrates knowledge of programming, data modeling, simulation, as well as statistics and mathematics.
• Analyze problems and develop solutions involving computer software programs and applications by designing programs or queries to retrieve complex data from databases in one or more programming languages. Using a combination of Machine Learning, advanced analytics, and statistical methods to prepare data for use in data modeling.
• Experience in programming preferably in multiple programming languages such as Java, R, Python, or SQL against very large data sets
• Advanced knowledge of SQL and relational database management systems.
• Demonstrates ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of individuals including operational leaders, physicians, analysts and subject matter experts.
• Demonstrates excellent follow-up skills and the ability to take initiative as well as a proactive problem solving approach.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Statistics or enrolled in a program with successful completion within one year of hire.Demonstrated ability to use knowledge of current techniques, and develop new methodologies.Experience in developing and applying machine learning algorithms in health and healthcare application settings.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY:

• The ability to manage and manipulate large data sets.
• Command of principles of machine learning, statistical analysis, data mining algorithms, and mathematical segmentation and modeling.
