Scope
The Climate Data Analyst will work closely with the environmental affairs subject matter experts and will support them in producing annual reports, dashboards, and productivity tools to meet internal and external compliance needs as well as climate modeling needs.
Functional Accountabilities
Work closely with multiple internal and external stakeholders to collect, review and analyze energy and greenhouse gas data
Work closely with the Environmental Affairs compliance team to ensure compliance data reporting needs are understood and addressed ahead of deadlines
Produce regulatory compliance reports for submission to governmental and other agencies
Produce energy and GHG data for annual corporate reports (CSR, CDP, TCFD, etc.) for submission to governmental and other agencies
Perform climate change and GHG projects analysis and communicate efficiently the results to relevant stakeholders in order to support recommendations
Provide support for the business analysis and technology/business integration efforts
Analyze technology trends to determine potential impacts and evaluate contribution to the achievement of business goals
Develop climate models and use available information for improved operational performance
Conduct requirement and systems analysis and translate business requirements
Support in creating business cases with data modeling
Support planning and monitoring processes
Support definition and maintenance of methods, techniques and calculations for identifying ways to improve business/technical processes
Build productivity tools to support data modeling and scenario analysis
Provide the appropriate data mapping for the ETL specifications and/or various data ingestion
Profile source systems data
Validate input data (source)
Work closely with the data team to integrate new data sources
Qualifications
A relevant University degree/technical certification specifically Computer Science, Science or Environmental Engineering
3+ years of relevant experience in analysing and validating climate data (i.e., GHG emissions, energy data, etc.)
Climate change and greenhouse gases knowledge and interest required
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Advanced computer skills particularly in the area of BI, databases and statistics
Advanced skills in such products as PowerBI, MS-Excel, PowerPoint, SQL Server, Visual Basic
Sound knowledge of Microsoft productivity tools
Knowledge of Essbase, Oracle, CGI and Teradata an asset
Good writing and presentation skills.
