About this opportunity

We are now looking for RAN Data Scientist to join the team in Kista, Sweden. You will join a highly motivated team with expert knowledge in the blend of Radio Network and Data Science. You will have a great opportunity to grow and evolve your own skills and know-how working with state-of-the-art RAN AI solutions.

The Base Band Analytics section is a Radio Access Network (RAN) System organization responsible for driving the RAN AI product development targeting the Ericsson 4G/LTE and 5G/NR RAN Products. The responsibility and focus are on identifying and developing RAN solutions applying Machine Learning techniques and driving the RAN AI evolution to enable the integration of these technologies into the 4G and 5G products. It also includes spreading and growing the AI competence within the Development Organization and to facilitate data-driven development. The Analytics section is also responsible for the Smartphone Lab Program, supporting Ericsson's business and the product development by providing industry-unique and customer-relevant insights based on analysis of current and future end-user applications.

What you will do

  • Understand, adapt and apply machine learning and AI techniques to provide Radio Access Network solutions and functionality.
  • Define and conduct RAN product development studies with a focus on solutions based on Machine Learning/AI modeling and support the implementation into the 4G and 5G Radio Network and Network Management products
  • Use, maintain and evolve RAN simulation environments and AI tools for the development and evaluation of machine learning and AI solutions in the RAN context
  • Perform lab and live network data analysis to understand the RAN functional behavior to identify and develop RAN solutions and for Machine Learning/AI modeling

You will bring

  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering / Engineering Physics / Wireless communication systems, or equivalent
  • Deep understanding of Mobile Network and Radio Access technologies in general and LTE and 5G in particular,
  • Deep understanding of the Physical Layer, RRM, or Traffic Control (L1, L2, L3) of 4G and 5G
  • Deep understanding of AI and ML techniques, theoretical as well as practical
  • Have good programming skills (e.g. Java, C++, Python)
  • Experience in using AI/ML tools and IT systems
  • Good analytical and data mining skills
  • Practical experience from RAN Product Development in System Design and Concept Development roles
