The Opportunity

QBE Europe is looking to recruit a Senior Data Analyst to join our Data & MI Team. We are a large central Data team with engagement across a variety of QBE EO business areas / divisions. You will be responsible for the elicitation and translation of business requirements into technical data requirements, and the facilitation of the design, development, and implementation of advanced MI solutions. You will use Agile SCRUM methodology to deliver change iteratively, regularly engaging with stakeholders to develop an expert MI solution and detailing change management plans to ensure consumers are trained and engaged appropriately. You will be able to leverage your data expertise and technical knowledge to provide quality solutions for consumers (both strategic and tactical) including data modelling, visualisations, parameterised reports, improved data workflow and multi data source solutions.

Your New Role

Strategy & Planning:

  • Facilitate the design, development, and implementation of advanced fit-for-purpose MI solutions
  • Facilitate the identification and documentation of more complex and unique reporting requirements, provide project support, and implement detailed rollout plans to optimize transition and usage.
  • Undertake problem investigation, analysis, and resolution to maintain and improve existing solutions
  • Maintenance of existing MI estate including defect fixes, enhancements, process support and consumer support activities.
  • Maintenance of a catalogue of all reports within Collibra– operational, regulatory and MI with CORE reports identified.
  • Provide technical support to our end users on the use and application of our reporting tools.
  • Provide clear visibility of projects and its progress through to issues resolution
  • Be aware of the Data Strategy and Analytics Framework to appropriately align effort with this direction and positively promote the department, division, and company as a whole, to maximize brand leverage and develop team profile.
  • Maintenance of existing MI estate including defect fixes and enhancements
  • Produce documentation aligning with our audit controls
  • Support R&D into new MI tools and initiatives


  • Ensure solution delivery is iterative using agile methodology within SCRUM framework to ensure adaptability and ability to react to emerging consumer needs, and early realization of consumer value.
  • Facilitate business training initiatives
  • Provide expertise into the development of a user roll out strategy to increase the take up and proliferation of MI use across the business
  • Complete consumer support activities and process support activities
  • Ability to provide clear and practical guidance to the business in the application and value of our reporting tools
  • Build and maintain strong productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure service delivery meets business needs
  • Keep abreast of industry, technological and competitive developments
  • Ensure that high standards of service are maintained and developed to ensure continuous improvement and effective response to user requests/enquiries.

About You

  • Good experience in designing full and complete solutions, producing specifications, detailing solutions for approval by business consumers and for technical use by developers and testers
  • Strong dashboarding capability (Power BI, Tableau preferred)
  • Hands-on experience of database tools or languages (SQL/ PL-SQL/ Oracle/ Sybase)
  • Good experience in a customer facing / support environment and in training end users
  • Strong experience working with business representatives to identify and document business requirements.
  • Some experience in working with Power Platform stack (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Virtual Agents, Dax Language) would be a large benefit.
  • Experience with wide variety of (large volume) data sources and data analysis
  • Some knowledge of Azure Cloud Platform
  • Working in the insurance industry
  • Some experience with Data Modelling
  • Experience of working with and querying/extracting data from front-end applications
  • Some experience of data validation tools
  • Some experience of Agile SCRUM methodology
  • Experience of the system development lifecycle and disciplines in tandem with a broad awareness of industry standard analysis techniques and approaches
