Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Glasgow/Dundee, is currently looking to recruit 2 x Data Engineers for initial 6 month contracts with option to extend on a rate of up to £593/day (inside of IR35). These roles will be hybrid based - ideally working in the office 1-2 days per week.
Responsibilities
Recognise opportunities to re-use existing data flows
Lead the build of data streaming systems
Optimise the code to ensure processes perform optimally
Lead work on database management
Participate in the delivery of Continuous Improvement by identifying changes that can be carried out to improve performance
Data source connectivity and ingestion, connecting to structured/un-structured data contained within various types of storage platforms (relational/non-relational, on premises and cloud)
Delivering Extraction, Transformation and Loading (ETL)
Essential Skills
Ability to effectively translate and accurately communicate across technical and non-technical stakeholders as well as facilitating discussions within a multidisciplinary team, with potentially difficult dynamics.
Ability to design, build and test data products that are complex or large scale.
Understanding of the concepts and principles of data modelling and ability to produce relevant data models across multiple subject areas.
Ability to use agreed standards and tools to design, code, test, correct and document moderate to complex programs and scripts from agreed specifications and subsequent iterations and collaborate with others to review specifications where appropriate.
Experience in ETL in general.
Desirable Skills
Skills in SQL, Python, AWS Glue, Lambdas and Redshift
Ability to take business rules and apply them to code for data transformation
Bash scripting skills would be welcome
