Operations Data Analyst

Role Purpose

The Deployment Team is responsible for ensuring we have the right people in the right place at the right time in our pubs so that they thrive and so we can deliver great service for our customers and a great experience for our teams.

The Operations Data Analyst/ Deployment Analytics Manager is at the heart of this team, responsible for the model and processes that help determine how many hours each pub needs, as well as generating insights and providing analytical support for the business on deployment. With a passion and aptitude for data and analysis, they will work closely with the Lead Deployment Support Manager to define and deliver the strategy for the function. Inquisitive, with a continuous improvement mindset, their skill and enthusiasm in both identifying and quantifying opportunities will be key in driving efficiencies across the business.

Key Accountabilities
  • Owning the model that helps determine how many hours each pub needs. This includes maintaining accurate inputs, managing and updating model assumptions, running weekly modelling and validating outputs
  • Working closely with the Deployment Support Managers to ensure Team Hours system configuration and workload rules are accurate and up-to-date, diagnosing and resolving any issues
  • Playing a critical role in the annual budgeting and re-forecasting process, working closely with Finance to provide forecasted hours by pub, backed up with clear rationale and commentary
  • Conducting analysis on deployment, running scenario modelling, highlighting opportunities and risks, and building business cases for change
  • Supporting the business’s operational efficiency and continuous improvement strategy by providing impact analysis and recommendations on key initiatives
  • Liaising with various teams across the business (e.g. Operations, Commercial, IT, HR) to ensure that any activities which change hours in pubs are correctly accounted for in the model
  • Influencing and interacting with Operations Managers and Business Development Managers, sharing ad hoc information and insights, and receiving feedback to help improve the model
  • Generating periodic insight to influence decision making for senior leaders, including Managing Directors, Finance Directors and the Chief People Officer. Creating analysis which must be timely and insightful to ensure informed business decisions are made.
  • Working with third party IT solution providers to influence and implement the Team Hours development road map

Person Specification
  • Proactive attitude, willing to take ownership for work and the results that come from it
  • Consistently deliver on commitments, despite challenging timescales and competing priorities
  • Great communicator who can tailor their message to different audiences and build effective relationships
  • A continuous improvement mindset, constantly looking for ways to work smarter, drive efficiencies, and challenge the status quo
  • Strong planning and organising skills, working in a structured way to ensure consistent and accurate delivery to service-level agreements and deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving skills, working with pace and tenacity to own and resolve issues
  • A passion for pubs with plenty of energy
  • Advanced Excel user with good knowledge of VBA
  • Previous experience working with data and generating insights in an analytical-orientated role, in particular around budgeting, forecasting and impact analysis / continuous improvement
  • Ability to create PowerPoint presentations to share insight
  • Workforce management processes and systems, particularly within a hospitality / service industry
  • Specialist reporting / analytical software (e.g. Power BI)
  • Continuous Improvement methodologies
