You will be working in the Asda Data Team as a Senior Business Data Analyst on a variety of exciting data projects, as well as supporting pipeline activity for new initiatives that come into the team. You will be a Senior BA SME in the Data Team, working closely with one of Asda's many business areas; line managing a small team of Business Analysts and also ensuring consistency and best practice for a wider team of Data BAs, including offshore colleagues.

The Role

• Working with stakeholders to understand and elicit requirements for data and analytics products, using a variety of tools including individual/group meetings and workshops, data analysis, process mapping, observation and document analysis.
• Working alongside Project teams to populate, prioritise and refine project and product backlogs.
• Providing strategic analysis support to help manage the pipeline of new Ideas coming into the Asda Technology Data portfolio.
• Defining the business analysis approach, plan and deliverables for each Project or Idea you are working on.
• Documenting, managing and validating functional, non-functional and data reporting requirements.
• Working with both internal technical teams & external vendors to ensure that the solution adequately meets the requirements. Managing traceability of requirements back to the objective of the change.
• Working alongside the Project Manager, technical delivery manager and relevant business teams to ensure smooth implementation, with a particular focus on user experience and feedback.
• Direct line management of a team of Business Analysts, whilst also acting as a Senior Business Analyst lead in the team – ensuring consistency, sharing best practice, review of tools and techniques, coaching and developing a wider group of Business Analysts in the Data team.

About You

• You'll have previous experience as a Senior Business Analyst / Business Analysis Manager working in a data environment/on data projects
• You'll have expertise in a variety of modelling & analysis tools & techniques, e.g. Use cases, User stories, Business Process Modelling, Workshop facilitation
• You'll also have previous experience of the full project lifecycle in Agile and Waterfall methodologies
• You'll have a passion for analysis and for providing first class service to your customers
• You'll need to have good technical understanding of data tools and processes, including a basic understanding of SQL and the foundations of Data Warehousing
• You will ideally have experience in coaching, developing and line managing Business Analysts
