We are looking for an experienced data scientist to join our User Fraud product area. Our mission is to ensure the integrity of Spotify’s growth by detecting and preventing unwanted behavior on our platform.

You will join a multi-functional team of data scientists and software engineers, working together to continuously experiment, iterate and deliver on new fraud prevention products. As part of our team, you will study user behaviour, develop data science and machine learning solutions and bring insights into every decision we make. Your work will impact how we think about user growth and our ability to identify fraud.

What you'll do

  • Create insights based on huge amount of data using cutting edge data science tools and methodologies
  • Research and build data science and machine learning solutions for the Fraud team allowing to rapidly and automatically analyze data to support fraud prevention
  • Own our experimentation strategy, including experiment design and analysis.
  • Communicate insights and recommendations to non-technical audiences, through clear visualizations and data storytelling.
  • Work on an interdisciplinary team of engineers, data scientists, researchers and product managers. Collaboration across disciplines and with partners in our other European and Americas offices will be a key part of this role.

Who you are

  • 5+ years of proven experience analyzing large, sophisticated datasets with Python, SQL and/or R and are comfortable with visualizing data by yourself using, for example, Tableau, ggplot/matplotlib or equivalent.
  • Degree in data science, computer science, statistics, economics, mathematics, or a similar quantitative field. PhD welcome.
  • Experience and strong understanding of statistical modeling, such as forecasting, hypothesis testing, linear and logistic regression and feature engineering for machine learning.
  • Hands-on experience with designing and rolling out large scale A/B tests to analyze and validate new products or features.
  • Experience crafting and scheduling data pipelines, for example using Scala/Scio, is highly valued.
  • Strong communication skills and value building strong relationships with colleagues and partners as well as the ability to explain sophisticated topics in straightforward terms.
  • Comfortable working with distributed teams across multiple offices and timezones.
