The Service Data Science team is tasked with using advanced analytics to assist our Operations and Marketing areas run the business and meet organizational goals. This is accomplished utilizing an omnichannel approach to direct and/or generate contact, optimize customer interactions and expenses, tie service methods to policy and claim events, as well as predict future behaviors.

Responsibilities:

  • The Senior Data Engineer on this team is responsible for being a thought partner in deploying and maintaining cloud as well as on-premise data movement solutions and curating the framework for our omnichannel approach to data and analytics.
  • They will also document maintain data mapping artifacts, architecture diagrams, data flow and coding standards for supported platforms used toward ingestion, extraction, cleaning, integrity testing, integration of data across multiple data assets within The Hartford.
  • The Senior Data Engineer will partner closely with agile data scientists, business partners, enterprise data and DevOps teams to understand, build, automate, and troubleshoot issues with data pipelines for analytical use cases.

Minimum Experience

  • 5+ years of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related field required
  • Must be able to effectively communicate design approach, participate in review sessions and collaborate with peers, technical as well as non-technical teams
  • Proficiency with Python, SQL, XML, JSON
  • Experience with AWS Services (i.e. S3, EMR, Glue, Athena, Lambda, Hadoop, Spark, Hive, etc.)
  • Experience with Cloud data warehouse / data lake, automation, data pipelines (i.e. Snowflake, Airflow, dbt)
  • Experience with ETL concerning meta data management, intermittent data checks throughout a process, data validation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ETL / Data Integration (i.e. Informatica, Talend, NiFi), knowledge of data modeling, database design
  • Experience with Cloud data warehouse / data lake, automation, data pipelines (i.e. Snowflake, Airflow, dbt)
  • Experience with ETL concerning meta data management, intermittent data checks throughout a process, data validation.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$108,480 - $162,720
