Data at October

We think reinventing financing is a massive tech challenge, that’s why we built October as a tech-centred startup. Today, the Tech, Data & Product teams (20 persons) are working on building the best financing experience ever made, very closely with the business.

The Data team is responsible for all things data at October. From setting up and maintaining our data lake, to building, deploying and monitoring of ML models to detect fraud and risk. Our data stack is Python based, and all compute/storage resources are on AWS. To name a few, we use PySpark, SQL, Pandas, FastAPI, MLFlow, Scikit-learn, Keras and PyTorch to build our models and applications.

The Role

This role requires some experience in data engineering and in deploying production-grade ML models in the cloud.

As a machine learning engineer, you will research and deploy new ways to detect risk and fraud by means of predictive modelling. You'll be knees deep in structured and unstructured data, in databases and in documents, building applications which run on data.

You will go from experimentation to production quickly, as we believe early iteration and user feedback is the best way forward.

What you'll do

  • Design, develop and deploy risk and fraud detection models
  • Collaborate with Tech, Product and our business teams to launch new features, and set up and improve cloud deployments
  • Create reliable tooling to make ML powered applications run smoothly and improve continuously
  • Review code from other data scientists

The required essentials

  • You have 2+ years of data science work experience in a non-academic environment
  • You have a good understanding of supervised and non-supervised ML applications & algorithms
  • You have worked on projects concerning computer vision
  • You have experience with ETL pipelines
  • You are familiar with Git, CI/CD pipelines and deployment of cloud resources for data applications
