The Homeland Security Data Scientist develops algorithms and assesses/selects methods, such as linear regression, machine-leaning, and forecasting, to help Government agencies find insights and solve problems through data. Candidates must have experience with R programming, Python, Tableau, SQL Server, or similar tools. Candidates have 3+ years of experience applying analytical techniques and using visual analytics tools. Candidates must have a (Interim) Secret Security Clearance.

Arc Aspicio is currently working a hybrid work environment where work will be performed at client sites, the Arc Aspicio DC office, and remotely. All candidates must live in the Washington, DC area at the time of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Use data extraction, manipulation, and aggregation techniques to clean, normalize, and validate data
  • Develop algorithms and assess methodologies such as linear regression, machine-leaning, and forecasting
  • Design, develop, and adapt mathematical, statistical, econometric, and other analytical solutions
  • Develop automated analytical workflows, create dashboards or other applications related to analysis performed, and document best practices in SharePoint, Tableau, and other development tools
  • Manage dashboards and workflows; update them when necessary
  • Apply statistical programming software for ad hoc data analysis requests
  • Utilize the extract, transform and load (ETL) processes
  • Translate complex technical findings into an easily understood narrative
  • Collaborate with our clients to solve tough problems, delivering outstanding client service, and achieving mission results
  • Apply excellent consulting, business analysis, and communications skills to quickly identify problems, analyze challenges, and recommend solutions to our team and our clients

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience designing, developing, and deploying advanced analytics in support of knowledge discovery
  • Experience in statistical analysis/modeling, simulation, link analysis, and geospatial software
  • Proficiency in languages R, Python, or JAVA
  • Experience with Tableau, Microsoft BI, and SharePoint Developer
  • Experience using natural language processing and text mining software to perform analysis of a wide variety of unstructured text sources (e.g. web pages, new sources, reports, etc.)
  • Skills in identification techniques, data gathering, and visualization projects
  • Ability to assess and understand data sources, then identify and mitigate issues to improve the quality of the data so that it can be used for quantitative and qualitative analytics
  • Ability to execute complex projects using advanced analytical techniques such as machine learning, natural language processing, robotics process automation, and artificial intelligence
  • Skilled at deriving meaningful and actionable recommendations from analytical work products to improve business processes
  • Experience or strong interest in working in a Government, homeland security, and/or law enforcement environment, with skills in this area preferred
  • Proven to be flexible and thrive in a dynamic, ambiguous, and complex work environment and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Outstanding written and oral communication and collaboration skills and strong leadership potential
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively remotely and in-person
  • Technologically savvy, especially with Microsoft products and use of collaboration tools (SharePoint preferred)
  • Desire to join a consulting firm and learn business concepts; loves to collaborate and reach out to get involved in company events, offerings, and special projects
  • Clearance: US Citizenship only (no dual citizenship) / Interim Secret Security Clearance
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience working with analytical techniques, relational databases, data modeling, and data visualization
  • Experience working with the Federal Government
