Saltside is looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join our Product Development team that develops performant and configurable classified and eCommerce products. This position is fully remote and we’re looking for candidates based anywhere in India or Sri Lanka.
Saltside has a strong data-driven culture, which puts data at the centre of everything we do. In this role, you will help build analytics infrastructure which supports the e-commerce application that millions of people use every day and provides greater insights for management, marketing and local teams. You will play an important role in our data engineering practice, creating the infrastructure, integrating with 3rd party libraries, and developing the analytics platform. Responsibilities
In this role, you will be expected to:
Develop, code, test and debug solutions related to our Data solutions.
Develop, enhance and maintain the data pipelines - ingestion, transformation, storage, analysis and visualization using combination of open source and proprietary technology tools.
Automate data solutions for reporting KPIs, trends, etc.
Necessary Skills & Experience
The following are necessary to be successful in this role:
2-5 years of years of experience in a professional environment performing analysis, design and development tasks in distributed systems preferably in an eCommerce domain
Experience building large-scale data pipelines which process millions of events per day and have experience in Java/ Python, and SQL.
Understanding of data flows, data architecture, data modeling, ETL and processing of structured and unstructured data.
Good knowledge of Big Data distributions preferably with experience in messaging systems such as Kafka and stream processing systems such as Storm, Spark and cloud Data stores such as Amazon Redshift.
Strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, programming languages, distributed systems, information retrieval, and familiarity with data mining concepts and machine learning algorithms.
Familiarity with Unix shell scripting
Strong communication skills: explaining technical concepts to product managers, support, and other engineers is no problem for you.

Familiarity with one or more of the following might help, but even if not, do apply if you think you’re right for the job!
Knowledge of Scheduling Tools (preferably AirFlow )
Experience in solving Online Marketing problems like attribution, campaign optimization using clickstream data and user behavior patterns
Experience with Business Intelligence and reporting tools
Experience in solving Data Science problems in eCommerce domain
Experience with AWS infrastructure
Exposure to microservices architecture
