What is the opportunity?
To be a part of a global, exciting and forward-thinking data analytics team within internal audit that are focused on building insight-driven applications to provide enhanced assurance across Capital Markets, Investor & Treasury Services and Wealth Management. As RBC continues to evolve in response to new challenges that impact financial markets across the globe, internal audit are transforming their approach from traditional auditing, to data-informed decision making when assessing and challenging the management of risk across the business.
What will you do?
Apply your skills in data exploration, statistical analysis and machine learning on a diverse number of data sources to identify insights and opportunities to develop continuous assurance tools.
Use your curiosity to develop innovative solutions to a diverse range of complex problems across RBC.
Collaborate with data analysts, data engineers and data scientists within internal audit to scale your ideas from concept to production.
Support data analysts and data-minded auditors when working on analytics projects or audits.
Work alongside the UK internal auditors to gather requirements, understand project scope and to develop an understanding of how risk is managed across the different platforms within RBC.
Take responsibility in helping to drive the ambitious data analytics strategy for UK internal audit.
Build relationships with internal audit and business stakeholders and communicate complex analytics in a clear and structured approach.
The role will offer exposure to hundreds of diverse data sources ranging from trade data to business issue descriptions, with the opportunity to develop state-of-the-art solutions which play a critical role in transforming internal audit into a data and insight-driven entity that provides greater assurance and oversight of the various RBC UK platforms.
What do you need to succeed?
Degree in a quantitative field
Experience with either Python or R as well as SQL
Strong grasp of fundamentals in statistics (hypothesis testing, regression, inference, time series)
Demonstrated experience exploring and analyzing large, complex datasets for the purpose of anomaly detection
Demonstrated experience building strong relationships and communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Nice to have
Experience developing interactive and sophisticated dashboards in Tableau (or similar tool)
Experience with natural language processing (NLP) and unsupervised learning
An interest in finance and capital markets
