Geotab is seeking a Data Analyst who will produce analysis and insights for customer facing data products. What you’ll do:

To be successful as a Data Analyst, you will be both a big picture thinker as well as interested in the details, with the capacity to bridge the gap between technical prowess and business value. The results of your analysis will be developed into customer-facing data products, so an important part of this role will be your ability to understand how our partners and customers can directly benefits from the analysis performed. In addition, the successful candidate will have strong analytical and project management skills with an ability to develop effective solutions, and manage projects through completion.

How you’ll make an impact:

    • Perform data collection, analysis, validation, and reporting for various teams.
    • Establish good working relationships with various business units while workingon process improvements, integrations, initiative deployment and support.
    • Document current and future processes, systems, requirements, and data.
    • Create, maintain, and publish regularly scheduled and ad hoc reports.
    • Utilize historical data sets and planned product changes to model and forecast business trends.
    • Responsible for tracking and reporting on department initiatives and status reports.
    • Conduct research on specific complaints, the individuals submitting those complaints, and other relevant information related to individual queries or systemic issues. Provide support with technical writing and editing as required.
    • Apply predictive analysis and tools to forecast and employ business analytics.
    • Undertake operational research to identify and recommend optimal/near-optimal solutions to complex challenges.
    • Map and document interfaces between systems.
    • Maintain data documentation including glossaries and schemasWork closely with the DNA team to architect data tables for cross-functional use

What you’ll bring to this role:

    • Post-secondary Diploma/Degree or equivalent experience required.
    • Diploma/Degree specialization in Information Management, Computer Science, or Statistics or in a technical field highly valued.
    • 3-5 years of experience handling a database with large datasets.
    • Advanced computer skills with knowledge of additional databases (e.g. SQL Server, MySQL, Python).
    • Knowledge of statistical methods and data analysis software.
    • Experience in data visualization and data story-telling is highly valued.
    • Advanced Excel skills with the ability to write macros and use pivot tables.
    • Familiar with data warehousing, data mining, and data mapping.
    • Experience working within a technical or engineering organization with knowledge of the high-technology industry considered an asset.
    • High accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
    • Ability to work well under pressure and respond to fast changing priorities and deadlines.
    • Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong interpersonal relationship building skills.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem solve to well-judged decisions.
    • Strong team player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
    • Technical competence using software programs, including but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
    • Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.
