Data Engineer (m/f/x)

The position:

Daiichi Sankyo Europe is creating a Digital Innovation Hub to accelerate the development and scaling of digital solutions across our European organization. The Digital Innovation Hub acts as an internal solution incubator and serves as a catalyst for Daiichi Sankyo Europe to deliver best-in-class customer experience for relevant digital content, solutions and services by knowing customers and their patient needs best.

You will work with a multidisciplinary agile team to build high quality data pipelines driving better customer understanding and insights through analytics. These solutions will generate insights from our connected data, enabling Daiichi Sankyo to advance the data driven decision making capabilities in order to deliver more personalized and relevant content to the right customer at the right time. You bring a deep understanding of data architecture, data engineering, data analysis, reporting, and a basic understanding of data science techniques and workflows. You are a skilled data / software engineer with experience in creating data products supporting analytic solutions.

You're an agile learner, possess strong problem-solving skills and work as part of a technical, cross functional analytics team. You enjoy to solve complex data problems and to deliver resulting insights to enable our analytics strategy. The more senior your role becomes, the more visionary & management focused you become, e.g., being involved in communication with multiple senior stakeholders within our organization, setting of strategic direction for further model developments, coaching & mentoring of younger DS roles, translators & organization leaders on general advanced analytics topics.

Roles and responsibilities:

• Design, develop, optimize, and maintain data architecture and pipelines that adhere to ETL principles and business goals
• Solve complex data problems to deliver insights that helps our business to achieve their goals
• Create data products for analytics and data scientist team members to improve their productivity
• Implement & deploy emerging tools and process for analytic data evaluation in order to improve our productivity as a team
• Consult & empower wider organization to implement & reinforce a culture of sharing, re-use, design for scale stability, and operational efficiency of data and analytical solutions
• Empower organization to leverage the art of possible: machine learning, data science, computer vision, artificial intelligence, statistics, and/or applied mathematics

Personal skills and professional experience:

• University or Bachelor’s degree required: Computer Science, MIS or Engineering preferred
• 3-5 years experience working in data engineering or architecture role, preferably in a digital unit of a start-up, digital consultancy, tech company and/or a pharma
• Expertise in data analysis and experience with at least one programming language (Python mandatory)
• Experience developing and maintaining data warehouses in big data solutions
• Experience with developing solutions on cloud computing services & infrastructure in the data & analytics space (descriptive, predictive and prescriptive modeling)
• Database development experience using Hadoop or Big Query and experience with a variety of relational, NoSQL, and cloud database technologies
• Worked with BI tools, preferably QLIK & Power BI and further commonly used tools
• Conceptual knowledge of data and analytics, such as dimensional modeling, ETL, reporting tools, data governance, data warehousing, structured and unstructured data
• Big Data Development experience using Hive, Impala, Spark and familiarity with Kafka (preferred)
• Familiarity with unit & regression testing frameworks mandatory
• Familiarity with the Linux operating system (preferred)
• Exposure to machine learning, data science, computer vision, artificial intelligence, statistics, and/or applied mathematics preferred, willingness to learn compulsory
• Passionate about agile software processes, data driven development, reliability, and experimentation
• Ability to learn working on a collaborative agile product team
• Excellent language proficiency in English (at least C1)
• International work experience
