Your Opportunity

Stantec Geospatial Services has an immediate full-time opportunity for a Senior Geospatial Data Scientist in Calgary, Alberta.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Preparation of a Statistical and Comparative analytic frameworks for Machine Learning
• Undertake data normalization and blending to ensure highest and best use data strategies
• Utilize high level geospatial concepts to solve problems
• Integrate geospatial hardware and software solutions tailored to client needs
• Interaction with clients to secure and transmit digital information
• Participation in team and independent based work
• Evaluate and Develop IoT and RF SDR capture protocols and identify device, platform and workflows
• Ensure data and drawings are in accordance with project scope, client specifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Demonstrated team player with the ability to work independently and take initiative
• Strong written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills
• Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet multiple and varied deadlines
• Highly desirable skills include an intermediate level knowledge of web GIS mapping concepts and vector geometry analysis. Familiarity with edge computing and IoT sensor integration is an asset.
• The ability to utilize various geospatial data formats such as raster, vector, and tabular data files. A rudimentary knowledge of CAD systems is also an asset
• Additional computer skills desired Include: introductory programming in languages such as R, SPSS, SAS MATLAB, C#, JavaScript, and Python.

Education and Experience

• B.Sc. degree in one of, Geomatics Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with extensive coursework in Information systems An advanced knowledge of database system design. Must have strong knowledge of LTE/LTE-A, C-RAN, CDMA, IoT and network security. Use of Power BI and with MS SQL Server products is highly desired along with 3-5 years of geospatial professional experience using Open Source and Commercial Geospatial processing and Statistical algorithms Experience in using Trimble Business Center (TBC) would be an asset.
• Minimum 5 years of experience working in a geospatial role
• MS Office, Excel and SharePoint and Power BI will be desired.
