Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to design, implement, and maintain robust data infrastructure and pipelines to support large-scale data processing and analytics. You will collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure data accessibility, quality, and security. With expertise in big data technologies and programming languages, you will optimize data workflows and contribute to strategic data initiatives, driving data-driven decision-making within the organization. Success in this role requires mastery of large, complex datasets and the ability to understand how data represents applications, services, or external sources and its relation to business problems.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines using technologies like AWS, Snowflake, dbt Cloud, and Airflow.
- Implement and manage scalable and secure data infrastructure.
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and ensure data accessibility.
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and governance through best practices and automated testing frameworks.
- Automate data workflows and orchestrate tasks using tools like Airflow.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of data systems, processes, and architecture, and create reports for stakeholders.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues, providing support for data operations.
Experience and Skills:
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience with AWS services and Snowflake technologies, including designing and managing data warehouses, data modeling, and performance tuning.
- Expertise in dbt Cloud for developing and managing data transformation workflows.
- Proficiency in Airflow or similar orchestration tools to automate and manage complex data workflows.
- Strong SQL and programming skills, with extensive experience in SQL for data querying and manipulation, and proficiency in programming languages such as Python or Java for building data pipelines and ETL processes.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills, along with the ability to lead cross-functional projects and mentor junior team members.
- Prior experience with wholesale energy, such as electricity load forecasting, customer energy usage, and grid operations, is a plus.
- Knowledge of DevOps principles and tools for continuous integration and deployment is a plus.
