Overview:

  • Be a part of building out RMIT’s internal Machine Learning & AI capability

  • Based at the Melbourne CBD campus in our brand-new office @QV

About You


You will be responsible for delivering key insights and information to stakeholders within RMIT’s Experience Group by leveraging statistical modelling and machine learning techniques. The role will work in cross functional teams to established to deliver data and analytics solutions for our stakeholders. A key part of the role is to actively contribute to the development of best practices, methodologies and tools for how data science projects will be delivered in the university.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have:

  • Knowledge of a variety of machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques (regression, statistical tests, deep learning text mining, decision tree learning etc), how to apply these techniques to solve real-world business problems, and an understanding of how to evaluate the performance of models

  • Good data visualisation, storytelling and presentation skills to deliver insights and analysis to a broad range of stakeholders

  • Programming skills and an ability to manipulate structured and non-structured data in distributed environments.

  • Experience in building model using tools and libraries but also in creating bespoke new algorithms

  • Experience with cloud based analytics tools (AWS, Google, Azure)

About the Group

The Office of the Chief Data & Analytics Officer supports and enables RMIT’s business strategy by leading and driving the data and analytics agenda for the enterprise. This involves being accountable and responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing RMIT’s data and analytics strategy and ensuring ongoing alignment with university

  • Defining requirements and standards for data and analytics technologies to be delivered by Information Technology

  • Coordinating and governing data management activities for analytics and reporting

  • Developing and coordinating advanced analytics capabilities to resolve key university challenges
