Job Purpose :

The Temporary Data Engineer role is a key role in the Business Technology Solutions (BTS) department to enable the transition to a data driven organization. They are responsible for setting up the foundation of the data environment at the affiliate level. They will then highly contribute to making the best out of the data using the different tools at their disposal, ensuring the different internal stakeholders get access to the right analysis, at the right time and on the right platform. They will play an active role in defining the long-term analytical strategy at the local level, considering the global strategy.

A Data Engineer must have excellent analytical and communication skills and be able to understand end user requirements and fulfil them using data and tools available. They will have a deep understanding of the different data sources, data structure and data flows.

Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Execute UAT and data validation during tool integration projects (merge of systems, migration of environment, …)
  • Responsible for data governance around managed data sets including external stakeholders, activity and sales data used by Finance, Business Intelligence, CRM and Commercial teams.
  • Integrity – responsible for publishing accurate and timely numbers to the business relating patient/sales/activity/targets.
  • Quality, review data for inconsistencies or anomalies that could skew analytical results.
  • Execute UAT and data validation during tool integration projects (merge of systems, migration of environment, …)
  • Streamline data collection and analysis procedures to ensure fast access to metrics.
  • Liaise with data providers about data changes, maintenance and requirements (both internal and external) and provides guidelines for data robustness.
  • Provides governance and guidance to maintain data robustness.
  • Work in partnership with Customer Excellence (CEx) and the Global Business Analytics team to co-create relevant dashboards fitting to internal stakeholder needs.
  • Responsible for managing the delivery of ad-hoc data requests or reports.
  • Responsible for the integration and alignment of new data sets.
  • Responsible for system and process documentation.
  • Support and follow up on all requests (Enhancements, access and issues) related to data support technology.
  • Project management for the implementation of new (global) technology solutions in the affiliate.


  • Understand technology strategies within the organization and how these will impact affiliate existing systems and procedures.
  • Define, brief, initiate and oversee the delivery of data technology capabilities at an affiliate level.
  • Ensure that projects are integrated solutions, re-using existing technology wherever possible, and fulfil their functional business requirements, as signed off by the business partners.
  • Will ensure that all projects are compliant with local regulatory frameworks and legal requirements.


Experience & Competencies Required :

  • Ability to work effectively.
  • Strong planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to operate in a matrix organisation.
  • Successfully managing technology projects through the full lifecycle.
  • Experience in analyzing, designing and improving processes.
  • Experience of Master Data Management and managing CRM systems.
  • Familiar with OneKey and CRM Data.
  • Experience in Python and/or Pyspark would be an asset.
  • Experience in Reltio (MDM), Qlik Sense and/or Foundry (from Palantir) would be an asset.

Background & Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science/Data Management, or equivalent experience, preferably in business or a closely related discipline.
  • 3+ years of significant Data Consultancy or Data Professional experience.
  • Second Belgian language preferable & English mandatory
