Atkins, Balfour Beatty and Egis Road Operations UK are part of a consortium, creating Connect Plus Services, a unique partnership with a collective strength in highways asset care from finance, through to design, build, maintenance as well as day to day operation.

As part of our 30-year remit to manage and improve the capital’s orbital motorway network, we deliver major improvement projects, such widening 38 miles of the M25, refurbishing tunnels and bridges, and installing hundreds of variable messaging signs and gantries, helping to maximise the use of the network and deliver more reliable journeys. We also manage the Dartford River crossing and operate and maintain 440 kilometres of motorway providing our customer and road user with a world-class highway service.

In this role you will support the development, refinement, and governance of our Investment Planning protocols through the continuous enhancement and use of (DST) Decision Support Tools and generation of Asset Intelligence from various datasets. This expands to data collation, development of modelling techniques, use of bespoke IT tools, deterioration modelling and optimisation protocols.

As a Data Analyst you will join an established team, that will help you propel your career in Asset Management. Your role will enable you to interact and interface with Asset Engineers, Project Managers and other stakeholders across a wide portfolio of assets to quantify and prioritise asset need, asset performance, and investment requirements.

This is a key role and a unique opportunity to help an organisation with high quality analysis and reporting solutions to facilitate informed decision making and continuous improvement. You will help develop and deliver a consolidated asset intelligence and reporting approach, mining and analysing large datasets and turning it into actionable insight for a variety of stakeholders.

  • Maintaining and enhancing the existing Decision Support tools within or outside the Agile Assets ecosystem.
  • Supporting the development of Asset Intelligence to help decision making and investment prioritisation.
  • Owning modelling inputs and outputs and defining, configuring and executing optimisation scenarios for our key asset portfolios.
  • Developing a wider suite of DSTs covering the range of assets across the M25 either through our existing Asset Management System, IT environment or by using bespoke tools where required.
  • Supporting the development of the Asset Management Forward Plan reviewing asset data and spending forecasts.
  • Developing and implementing asset intelligence through Power BI reporting and use of DST outputs.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Degree qualified with an analytical focus & data handling (statistics, mathematics, engineering mech or civils) or obtained a M.Sc. or PhD in a relevant Asset Management field with a data focus (data modelling, optimisation).
  • Flexible and adaptable communicator who can work collaboratively.
  • Ability to understand and explain complex mathematical and modelling topics in simple language.
  • Curious and analytical approach and creative thinking.
  • Dedicated to continuous personal and professional development.
  • Knowledge and understanding of key tools such as SQL, Excel, VBA, Python, Tableau/Power BI.
  • An ambition to work with data and an understanding of how it can help organisations make better decisions.
  • Any previous experience in modelling / optimisation in the highways or Asset Management spectrum (use of AMS IT systems, data wrangling, ETL processes) an advantage.
