As we uplift our data function and architecture, we will look to integrate and develop data analytics and cloud data solutions with a vision toward machine learning and artificial intelligence. We work with time series, geospatial, and IoT data, and are adding a number of new and exciting roles to support delivery across our organisation.

The Role

This role is an opportunity to work with data to help support decision-making across the organisation. The position involves assisting in data processing, creating basic reports and visualisations, and working with various teams to support TasWater's data capabilities. You'll be part of a team that's helping to grow TasWater’s data function and architecture, providing support and contributing to a data-driven culture.


Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in development and implementation of data visualisations and reporting tools for different business functions.
  • Collaborate with team members to support TasWater’s analytical capabilities and promote data-informed decision-making.
  • Provide support in data process automation and other data-related tasks.
  • Help maintain technical documentation and contribute to training efforts to promote best practices.
  • Support cross-skilling within the data team and contribute to improving internal processes for efficiency.


What we're looking for

  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field, (or equivalent experience) with some experience in data integration and reporting tools (e.g., SQL, Power BI, ETL).
  • Basic programming skills in languages like Python, with an interest in building and automating data processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in handling data to generate insights.
  • Good communication skills and a willingness to learn how to create technical documentation for various audiences.

The Details

This role can be based in either Hobart, Launceston, or Devonport and attracts a salary of $91,000 - $96,000 (inclusive of superannuation).
