About the Department
Transmission operates under licence as Scottish Hydro Electric (SHE) Transmission plc, responsible for the transmission of electricity in the north of Scotland. We own and maintain the 132kV, 275kV and 400kV electricity transmission network in our licence area. Our network comprises of underground cables, overhead wooden poles, steel towers and electricity substations, and it extends over a quarter of the UK land mass across some of its most challenging terrain.
What is the Role?
As a Data & Systems Analyst, you'll play a key role supporting Asset Management & Operations and the wider SHE Transmission business in the delivery of critical outputs that will enable the success of the Asset Data & Systems team, whilst also taking the lead on the business’ transformational changes. This is a challenging role which provides the rare opportunity of operational, financial, Asset Management and analytical experience and the chance to add considerable and quantifiable value to the business.
As well as working closely with the wider Asset Management & Operations team, you'll also be working directly with business representatives to ensure data quality requirements are captured and that data analysis, maturity models and controls are established. This is pivotal in helping the businesses to understand the quality issues they face. You'll also be responsible for delivering improvements and establishing a greater level of confidence in the information we have to make key business decisions and help drive profitability in the organisations.
What do I need?
Due to the specialist nature of this role, we are looking for an individual with significant demonstrable experience in Data Analytics and associated Reporting. Ideally, you will have the following skills and experience:
- Proven ability of working with Analytics/Reporting development for Transmission Assets.
- Expert knowledge in Microsoft Applications, including VBA.
- A high level of proficiency in MS Power BI.
- Extensive experience in Data Quality Dashboarding/Quality Metrics creation and Data Science.
- Knowledge of SSRS, SSIS and SQL beneficial as well as Python and Tableau.
- A natural strategic and analytical approach to problem solving.
- Electrical Engineering, Data Science and or Maths & Statistics degree qualified would be preferred
