About the growth team
As the Research & Development(R&D)growth analyst, you will be a member of the newly setup multi disciplinary growth team in the Community & Collaboration(C&C) unit. This growth team will focus on running experiments across our platform components to increase the overall developer experience with the goal to improve conversion towards active users.

The growth team consist out of software developers that can join different R&D development teams to implement the experiments in all our products, a platform experience manager to create and configure new onboarding and guidance content and paths, and a product manager to define the vision and prioritize the experiments.

About R&D Analytics
While your primary focus will be on participating in the growth team with your experiment setups, evaluations, insights, analysis, dashboards, etc. You are part of the R&D Analytics team, this is a team of analysts centralized within the Mendix R&D division, serving the different R&D units with analytical support. It’s our goal to make R&D more data driven.

Each analyst in R&D Analytics has a specific focus area(C&C growth team in this case) but also contributes to the growth of the overall analytical function in R&D. This means you will be one of the key contacts towards the other analysts for the C&C growth related questions, but also working closely together with them to improve capabilities, share knowledge, work on overlapping projects and not the least important have some fun too.

A handful of activities that you can expect to be working on throughout a normal work week:

    • Scoping and challenging experiment requests from the C&C teams;
    • Brainstorming about new experiment ideas for the business;
    • Helping the C&C teams define, create and operationalize their experiments;
    • Retrieving & transforming data using SQL, R or Python;
    • Building operational and management level dashboards in Power BI;
    • Applying statistical techniques to metrics and hypotheses to prove significance of results of the experiments;
    • Identifying and sharing improvements in the experimentation tooling and processes;
    • Presenting your findings and actionable recommendations or analytics products to the business;
    • Growing your data & analytics skills by learning from other analysts, but also sharing your knowledge and experience.

Technical requirements:

    • Basic experience in data analytics
    • Strong numerical and analytical skills(preferably background in an exact study with statistical foundation)
    • Understand data models and being able to extract, clean and transform data
    • Setting up, executing, monitoring and analyzing A/B tests and understanding the statistical factors underneath;
    • Data processing languages or scripting languages such as: SQL, R or Python;
    • Experience with BI tooling such as Power BI, Tableau, QlikSense, or BI dashboard creation using languages such as Python or Shiny
    • Research and hypothesis design;

Business requirements:

    • Being able to present analytics solutions and/or actionable insights from research to development teams and fellow analysts;
    • Being able to present your outcome in a non technical and appealing way to colleagues;
    • Knowledgeable about or willing to learn working in an agile scrum environment;
    • Being able to challenge business partners to uncover the right requirements and clearly scope requests or ideas;
    • Being able to quickly learn about and familiarizing yourself with different business domains;
    • Experience with low code(app) development is a plus;
    • Able to speak fluent English;
