Department Summary:

Data, Discovery, and Decision Science (D3) is the research and analytics organization at Allstate. Job Summary:

In this role, you will serve as a consultant in the design and analysis of experiments with partners across the enterprise. You will collaborate as part of cross-functional teams on a wide variety of strategic initiatives and your contributions will inform learning and evidence-based decision making within these programs. You will be responsible for advising throughout the lifecycle of a program and supporting success through technical execution (i.e. evaluating potential design approaches, sample size and test duration calculations) and analysis (communication of results and messaging of statistical concepts to influence action).


This role is posted at the junior, entry level; however, D3 hiring leadership has flexibility to hire at a more senior level if your background includes directly-applicable years of experience and competencies. For this reason, we'd invite both entry-level and experienced Data Scientists to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uses best practices, with coaching, to develop statistical and machine learning techniques to build experimental designs and models that address business needs and enable test and learn competency.
  • Understands business problems and constraints to identify the optimal learning approach.
  • Communicates to team members, leadership and stakeholders on findings to ensure test results are well understood and incorporated into business processes.
  • Collaborates with the team on data and business problems to drive improved business results through designing, building, and partnering to implement tests and analytic solutions.
  • Innovates on projects by using new techniques or tools

Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • Master’s or PhD
  • 2 or more years of related experience (To be considered for the more senior-level version of this role)


Functional Skills

  • Experience in using statistical modeling and/or test & learn techniques to design solutions that have informed and influenced company decision making
  • Ability to provide written and oral interpretation of highly specialized terms and data, and ability to present this data to others with different levels of expertise
  • Demonstrated Analytic Agility and ability to quickly learn and switch topics
  • Ability to use and learn a wide variety of tools and languages to achieve results
  • Ability to code and develop prototypes in various languages
  • Ability to analyze and interpret moderate concepts (especially in the context of statistics and design of experiments)


Compensation offered for this role is $80,000 - $94,000 and is based on experience and qualifications.


The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation, which includes a drug screen.
