POSITION PURPOSE:
The Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing and maintaining data workflows between various sources and the Company’s data lakes and data warehouses. Working effectively as a contributing member of the Enterprise Systems team, this role will support various IT data initiatives that stabilize technology operations, streamline business process and improve system reliability and performance. Ensures that all Briggs Equipment standards are adhered to and executed consistent with company direction.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Develop automated data workflows through Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) / Extract, Load, Transform (ELT) pipelines using Microsoft Azure
2. Replace existing SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages within the Company’s datacenter using Microsoft Azure Data Factory
3. Design, develop and implement data flows within Microsoft Azure Data Factory
4. Assist with data driven projects through the development of IT infrastructure to include hardware, software, networks, etc.
5. Maintain and provide technical support for the Microsoft Azure Databricks environment
6. Assist in creating data warehouses
7. Actively monitor data quality and accuracy within data workflows
8. Establish and maintain data diagrams and data documentation
9. Create data tools and data storage procedures
10. Design and build Microsoft Azure functions to optimize data extraction
11. Proactively recommend system back-up and restoration strategies ensuring business continuity
12. Monitor and maintain database performance in Cloud / hardware services
13. Perform other related duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Knowledge & Competencies:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, team player, quick learner and self-starter
  • Strong analytical skills, root cause analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work within remote teams
  • Strong Database Administrator (DBA) skills such as performance tuning, backup/restores, and Transact-SQL (t-sql) performance enhancements
  • Exceptional coding skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL) Reporting, Analysis & Integration Services

Previous Experience/Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or equivalent work experience preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience in Data Engineering / DBA experience
  • 3+ years’ experience in Cloud Services such as Azure/AWS/Google
  • 2+ years’ experience in Azure Data Factory to include pipeline creation / data workflows
  • Apache Spark experience preferred
  • Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment
  • Experience with the following programming languages: C#, Python, Powershell preferred
  • Proven ability to learn new technologies quickly to a high level of proficiency

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Standing, walking, lifting, twisting, and bending on a frequent basis
  • Availability to work 24/7 on-call as needed
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
