Responsibilities

Serves as a Data Analyst in the Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) Headquarters (HQ) Budget and Analysis group, located in the office of the Chief Financial Officer. In this capacity, the incumbent serves as an Analyst, providing analysis, expertise, and guidance on a variety of subject matter relating to the effectiveness and efficiency of WAPA wide financial programs, in relation to, and in collaboration with information technology, design and engineering, asset management, and physical security.

Individuals with: data analytics or data science degree and/or experience in a fortune 500 company are encouraged to apply.

Travel Required

Occasional travel - Travel of up to 5-10% annually is required; with overnight travel of 1-2 days per month on average.

    SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:

    • Experience interpreting large sets of data and business indicators for trends for the purpose of making business recommendations.
    • Experience in any 2 of the following: applying statistical and logical techniques to describe data scope, modularize data structure, condense data representation, illustrate via images, tables, and graphs, and evaluate statistical inclinations, probability data, to derive meaningful conclusions.
    • Experience in working with tools, such as Power BI or Tableau, to produce data visualizations and data models.
    • Individuals with: data analytics or data science degree and/or experience in a fortune 500 company are encouraged to apply.

    How You Will Be Evaluated

    You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

    The Department of Energy uses an application tracking system to evaluate the responses you provide in the applicant assessment questionnaire to place you into an initial quality category via OPM's Category Rating procedures. Then, the HR Office and/or Subject Matter Expert (SME) will conduct a quality review of your application and supporting documentation to ensure you have been placed into the appropriate quality category.
